A Bug’s Night: Drive – Thru Adventure at Nassau County Museum of Art, Long Island, NY

An immersive drive-thru experience that puts you as a star in a cute story of a bug’s life. In this experience, your car will be magically shrunk as you drive through to see bugs, dinosaurs, fish, and several other lanterns and holiday lights!

‘Tis the season to drive around with some hot cocoa and look at the pretty lights. This past week, Matt (my boyfriend), me & our dog Winnie decided to see a new type of light show and we were soo happy we did this experience!

I will get to pricing and the hour details in a bit but first, let me just tell you why we loved it so much! From the second you pull in (we arrived on a Wednesday around 8:30pm) you get a fun light-up flower necklace and start to see these trees that reminded me of cherry blossoms.

Now it’s time to drive! We had no idea what to expect; the details of these lanterns were amazing! We immediately saw this sign that told us how our car was turning into a ladybug & we were going to crawl through this experience. I do have to say I was happy that they allowed you time to stop, read and not be close to other cars.

As we drove through we started off seeing some frogs, dinosaurs, jellyfish, and I am going to say some Disney-inspired characters Dory, Crush & Nemo. Then you crawl your way through shooting stars to see more animals.

T I P:

I noticed a lot of the good lanterns were actually on the drivers side. I saw them well, however, if you want to get a good picture or a close-up look I would suggest the drivers side seat, or better yet go back and forth in the back.

Overall, it was a great time. Now I’ll go into the pricing and hours, however, I understand not everyone has access to this and want to share this free google map of holiday lights you can go see if you’re in the Long Island / New York area. We have been using this map for the last two winters and love it! You can drive around & see really cool houses. We’ve seen houses with mini roller coasters, gorgeous light displays, and more! You also can make this activity as long or as short as you want!
